Federal Loan Forgiveness Programs
- Public Service Loan Forgiveness | Federal Student Aid
- The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program will forgive the remaining balance on Direct Loans after one has made 120 qualifying payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. Sacramento County is a qualifying employer. Earn credits towards your loan forgiveness by making payments towards your student loans while working full-time for Sacramento County any job class at Sacramento County qualifies as public service.
- Teacher Loan Forgiveness | Federal Student Aid
- If you teach full time for five complete and consecutive academic years in a low-income school or educational service agency, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to $17,500 of your Direct and Federal Stafford Loans. Qualifying employers include elementary schools, secondary schools, or educational service agencies that serve low-income students.
