About the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer
Cephoni Jackson, Chief DEI Officer, is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the County DEI Action Plan, chairing the DEI Cabinet and establishing the Sacramento County Community Racial Equity Committee. The DEI Officer works with County departments, agencies, and the community to advance equity, address barriers, and transform systems.

Cephoni's vision is to build a strong bridge between County and community, develop inclusive leadership capabilities in employees at all levels, create a deep sense of belonging, and empower and activate more County Departments around the work to advance racial equity and transform systems so our most vulnerable communities can shift from striving to survive to thriving.
Background
Cephoni Jackson was appointed as the County's Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer effective January 8, 2024.
Prior to joining the County, Cephoni had 20 years of experience in Fortune 1 and Fortune 500 companies across retail, apparel, and food industries with a proven track record in strategic planning & implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives focused on embedding DEI into the daily leadership activities and enterprise strategies.
She has held positions as Head of Diversity Business Partners, Human Resources Director, Regional People Partner, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Specialist, and Employment Compliance Manager.
Cephoni's academic background includes dual master's degrees in human resources development and public administration from Webster University. Cephoni holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Society for Human Resource Management, along with certificates in Diversity & Inclusion for HR from Cornell University and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of Southern Florida.
