Statement about the County's Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Our mission is to engage the workforce and community on topics of equity and inclusion and apply an equity lens on the day-to-day operations of the County and public service delivery.
We work to identify and eliminate inequities and barriers to access and engagement (e.g. policies, practices, attitudes, bias and cultural messages) that have prevented BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities and historically marginalized communities, full participation and equitable outcomes.
In April 2024, the County of Sacramento became an official member of the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE). GARE is a national network of governmental jurisdictions that have made a commitment to advancing racial equity across the breadth and depth of their jurisdiction. It is a peer-to-peer learning and practice network, dedicated to learning, sharing and co-creating new racial equity tools, strategies and resources.
